As the Partner & Operations and Beverage Director at Alexandria Restaurant Partners (ARP), Mike Rice brings decades of hospitality expertise and a deep passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences. Raised in the suburbs of Annapolis, Maryland, Rice began his career as a dishwasher in a restaurant in Bowie, Maryland, steadily advancing to leadership roles, including Managing Partner at Chili’s and General Manager at Gordon Biersch in Washington, D.C. These roles solidified his expertise in operations and beverage management.

 

Recently assuming the role of Director of Operations, Mike Rice now plays a key role in steering ARP’s strategic growth and ensuring operational excellence. He provides leadership across all aspects of beverage innovation, staff development, and supplier partnerships, ensuring that ARP’s diverse portfolio of concepts delivers exceptional quality and consistency. With a focus on both creativity and precision, Rice elevates guest experiences while aligning operations with the group’s strategic goals.

 

Rice’s accomplishments have earned him recognition within the industry. His cocktails have been featured in Whisky Advocate and other prominent publications, and he has participated in top-tier educational experiences, including Sonoma Somm Camp. A Entry-Level Sommelier, he is currently pursuing his sommelier certification and aims to become a Certified Spirits Specialist, underscoring his dedication to continuous learning.

 

Outside of his professional endeavors, Rice enjoys golfing, sailing—having earned his Level 1 Keelboat certification—and brewing kombucha at home. He is a devoted husband and father to his son Keegan, who has autism and Down syndrome. Rice is deeply committed to advocating for inclusion and supporting causes that create opportunities for learning and growth.
